Good
evening everyone!! Puppies are growing like weeds and the process
of opening their eyes has begun. They will probably have them
fully open by Wednesday. All pups, as of yesterday at 9 days
of age, weigh between 2.6 lbs and 3 lbs. So that means everyone
has doubled + their weights.

the shoulders touching the mat???? I know I have him pinned.
Come on ref!! This match is mine!!!!! --Royal"

April
18th -Turkey
Balls
"Hi this
is me, Lilac. I am about to eat my first turkey ball. It sure
smells good! It was great!! Yummmm. BTW, Gramma weighed me today
and she said I weighed 56.4 oz."
"Hey,
hey, it's my turn - come on - I have things to say. Hi, I'm
LT. Not sure what that smell is. Wow!! Whatever it was sure
tastes great!!! oh, oh, oh, I wanted to tell you I actually
took some real live steps today. . . Woohooo."
"Okay,
LT, it's my turn now. It's me, PeachyKeen. I am really getting
to be a big girl; Royal and I weigh the same. Oh, LT weighs
52.9 oz. now, but Royal and I weigh 59.9 oz. This turkey ball
business is pretty darn good if I do say so myself. I have both
of my eyes almost all the way open. Still can't focus, none
of us can yet, but we all have eyes now. "
"My
turn!! The name's Purple Girl and I am peeking out at you now.
Not so sure we like all the light. You can find us most of the
time under the pig rail or under the sheets. I weigh 49.3 oz.
now and am still the lightweight, but not by much. I am afraid
I left my lady manners at home when Gramma got close with that
turkey ball thing. One second it was there and the next it was
gone and I had a good time sucking on Gramma's fingers trying
to get every last piece of it."
"I suppose
it is FINALLY my turn, eh?? Royal checking in at long last.
Boy were my brother and sisters long winded. I have both of
my eyes open, too. Can't see very well, but that doesn't stop
my nose from working. Gramma stepped into the whelping box and
before she could even turn around I had made it all the way
to her and was kissing her on the foot. She said, "awwwww"
and picked me up and gave me some extra loving. Don't tell her,
but her training has begun. Won't be long til she is wrapped
around my paw!"

Week Two
April
22nd
"We
are two weeks old today--Woohoo--(we haven't learned how to
howl yet.) But, we do give angry yips now. We are talking a
little better.
We got our
first nail clipping today. Our little nails were getting pretty
long and quite sharp. Joe held us while Gramma did the clipper
and the file thing. She says when we are older she will use
a thing called a "dremel" on our nails. We don't know
what that is, but whatever Gramma says.
We like those
things called turkey balls--yummm--we all suck on Gramma's fingers
to make sure we get every last piece. Gramma is tricking us
into eating the Fastrack first and then she puts that turkey
ball right in front of our noses so we forget about the Fastrack
and go straight for the turkey"

Week Three
April
28th
Gosh,
can you believe it? We will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. Wow! Gramma
says we are getting very big! Like what were we supposed to
do, get smaller???
Yesterday
Gramma gave us our first cereal. We weren't sure exactly how
to eat it. It didn't suck up good; boy, was it a lot of trouble
to get our tongues working to eat it up. No pictures from yesterday
as Joe was sleeping and there was no one else to take any pictures.
So, today, Gramma decided she would just give us our first group
cereal feeding.
We
aren't used to bending our heads down to eat. That took some
getting used to. Then L.T decided he wanted to do some cereal
surfing. The show-off. Boy, did we make a mess. Gramma had to
keep mom back behind the gate until we were nearly through.
We
are all asleep right now (well, with the exception of me, naturally
- otherwise who would be telling the story, Gramma???

May

Hi
Everyone! We were three weeks old on Thursday. Gramma is sorry
she didn't get out the weights and pictures like she said she
would. She made lots of noise yesterday; something about grinding
up puppy kibble to add to our rice cereal. We got our first
taste of that stuff yesterday at lunch -- Wow! A new taste for
us. We are liking this stuff that Gramma brings us on that platter
thingy. She says that she is going to add some yogurt to our
food sometime today.
We got our first bath yesterday so we could get our pictures
taken. No extra hands available to take bath pictures, sorry.
But here are a couple of pictures of Joe keeping us nice and
warm while we finish drying off. But first. . . remember when
this was taken?? Look how small we were.
And
yesterday this is how big we are. We are certainly more than
a handful now. This is Joe holding Purple and PeachyKeen.
Hi
Everyone! Gosh, we are 3-1/2 weeks old and guess what. . .WE
HAVE TEETH!!!!! Oh boy! It is so neat to chew on the pig rail
in the whelping box. Gramma is threatening to take it out; Mom
isn't too happy with our teeth either. We can hear Gramma coming
now. She can't be too quiet these days. We hear everything!
And if we try hard enough, we can get out of our whelping box
if she leaves the door down; Lilac is the best at getting out.
Today was great!! Gramma needed some puppy time, so she climbed
into the whelping box with us and we all got to love on her,
chew on her (and her dress) and she started teaching us how
to play with our toys. We had a great time - don't think Gramma's
dress had such a great time. Boy is that thing thin-skinned;
Gramma says she won't be wearing it for a while - something
about trying to sew it back together.
Lilac
likes chewing on Gramma's fingers, but Gramma showed her how
to chew on the toy. Peach wanted to snuggle, so Gramma said,
"Come on up here" and she did - I think she knows
her name already. Royal playing with one of the toys and then
testing out Gramma's dress. . . Hmmmmm
Me
and Purple got behind Gramma and took a nap, so she didn't get
our pictures.. . But she says next time we won't get away with
not getting our pictures taken. . .more

May

Today,
Joe decided he would read to us. That was way more fun than
we thought reading would be. Lilac wants to whisper in Joe's
ear while L.T. wants to chew on Joe's toes. Don't think much
reading got done.

Week Four
"Gramma
said there are no official 4 week old pictures this time around,
but that she did take some while we were 4 weeks old. On May
5th, we went for our first vet visit. Gramma switched vets.
Gramma doesn't remember whether or not we told everyone about
the new vet. The new vet is a lady!! And she was so gentle
with us. She said we looked very healthy and even though our
area out here does not have much of a problem with intestinal
worms, that because Gramma wanted it done, we all got worming
medicine. It didn't taste so bad.
Anyway,
we had a very interesting day. Gramma let us go outside for
the first time when we got home from the vet. We got to stay
outside for a couple of hours. Gramma wanted us to be outside
when the worming medicine started to work. We were not sure
about being outside. We kinda huddled together because we
could see forever and that was a very big place to us. Mom
was outside with us and that helped. Gramma and Joe spent
a lot of time with us too."
