We
would like to report that our newest family member "Ice Cream"
safely landed at Washington DC National Airport at noon. Boy were
we excited when we got to see her the first time. She is awesome
! What a cutie ! We then brought her home and introduced her to
our Border Collie "Bear". They hit it off big time circle
racing through our backyard. Right now she lying under my desk
crashing out while having a chewbone sticking half out of her
mouth. It looks like she is smoking a cigar. It was a long long
day for her.

Here things are great. Little
Ice Cream is not so little anymore weighing in at a whopping 22.5
pounds. That is a 3.5 pound increase just over the past 6 days
! Her new official name is Talia. The call name is "Talli".
She is the absolute hit in the neighbourhood. Our doorbell is
ringing non-stop with kids asking if they can say "Hi"
to her. As exhausting as it is to us, it is great for socialization.
Her energy level and endurance are increasing daily. She is spending
a lot of time playing with Bear who absolutely loves her. Boy,
what a great match ! He even lets her have his ball - which is
a big deal for a Border Collie. She is also picking up her first
verbal and sign commands.
I spent the weekend extending our fenceline so that they have
even more room to play in the yard.

Talia has turned out to be an incredible loveboat – which
I wasn’t sure she had in her. She was so aloof as a pup – but
now, she loves to be hugged, patted, etc. She has these looks when
she is getting pets that melt your heart and make you want to continue
endlessly. She is a bit spoiled too – she walks up to you
and with her big brown gorgeous eyes gives you a mournful look
which I have learned means, “Pet me”. If you ignore
her, she puts her paw in your hand – she likes to have eye
contact (with family only). She is loyal beyond belief – I
just hope she never gets her hands on anyone who accidentally walks
inside of our house – but I feel safe. You can see she is
absolutely beautiful – I knew if from her puppy picture – I
said to Kay if Ice Cream is still available go for it – she
was.
