I don't know
about the rest of you, but for me naming is sometimes not the
easiest thing to do and in the case of the name that teal will
now have, its taken, oh, i guess about 3 years or so? To come
up with a name that felt right. Teal's full blown paper name is
to be Majestic Knights King O D Hill, call name of Rory. Rory
is actually a anglicized form of the gaelic name RUAIDHRÍ
which translates as the red king. The reason for me picking out
the name Rory is he's going to be shown, and Ii wanted to give
him a leg up before that started. To me the act of naming has,
in my own opinion, a significant impact upon that which is named.
So I have been on a search the last year to find the proper name
to go with such a destiny.
So that's it
in a nutshell!

The
trip home was pretty much uneventful for me. I can't say the same
for Rory since he found out that sleeping on a truck seat is somethng
of an acquired skill. I think he now knows to not roll over while
your sleeping or you will end up in the floorboard wondering what
happend.
Right now he's passed out
from a long day of jetting about. Let's see, two trips to the
vet, my fault I forgot to get the bordetello when we were there
the first time. which also reminds me, we both got to meet a couple
who are german shepherd breeders who I had no idea even lived
in the are much less breed shepherds and on top of that specifically
try for blacks. they were there getting a health cert for a 3
month old pup who is going to go to Montana. Rory was almost twice
the size of that pup. boy was that one wired for sound too, he
did not want to being held he wanted down so he could play. Rory
kinda cocked his head up and looked at him and then just went
back to sleep.
Then
we went to see my mother at her work. and again out like a light
in about 5 minutes after we got to the church office. then off
to Petco where he got another toy...oh and by the way just a little
while ago, i told him to go get his sheep...and he came back with
IT!!!!!! Not the other but the sheep, I will definately be checking
to see if this was a fluke or not, but I have a sneeky suspicion
that it isn't.
We came back home after that,
himself took a nap after a nice meal, then off to Petco again
since I had signed up for class, well, he decided about half way
through it was nap time again so off to the grass we go to take
another nap. after class we went to Lowe's because I had to some
keys cut, apparently I lost my spare I carry in
my wallet.
That's the end of our offical
first day.

Well,
today Rory got a chance to get out and about again. He got a chance
to see chickens, who he thought were toys, and horses, which he
wanted to play with. He even did the whole play bow bark and tail
wag with Mr. Big, a 1 1/2 yr old arabian. Mr Big, just kinda looked
at him and trotted on by.
Right now himself is snoozing
away probably dreaming about chasing chickens more than likely.
That's about all he wanted to do with the chickens, thank goodness
for that flexi. He learned after a couple of tries that no, he
cannot chase the chickens.

Rory
did me and my mother proud tonight. Our church had an ice cream
social and himself was a midget magnet. He did very well, of course
with all the ruckus going on (ie; people talking, music playing
and rugrats running) I only lost his attention for a short amount
of time a couple of times. He got to wander through the church,
but I made sure that I kept him away from the ice cream
He was of course the big hit, and as well the reaction "he's
how old??" followed by mouths that could catch flies
Right now himself is comfortable
ensconced and sleeping in front of
the a/c, guess he's a bit tired.

May 2004
Well,
lets see, basically things are going rather well way down here.
Thank God the house is done, himself has been getting more and
more comfortable with the new living arrangements. he likes tile
floors, which is like oh, probably half the reason for having
them -- he is his father's puppy..... it's like he's on a mission
at times, "wherever there's mud, or water, I will find it:
splashing in it, spraying it about rolling in it" oh, and
he just loves biting the water coming out of the hose, too I might
add, and will chase the water all over the yard given the chance.
I have no idea how much he weighs a this moment, I have been holding
off to see what he weighs as close to his b-day as possible. Ok,
I have to ask this question, anyone else out there have difficulty
telling if their dog is tall ?? i swear there are days he seems
like he's half my height, then there are the other times when
he seems short......but I know he's somewhat big, he takes up
2/3 of the truck when we go somewhere. It should be interesting
to see how he stacks up against his old man in the future since
they were so close in size in February.
McKenna's influence has kicked
in as well, he's getting better and better at the catching thing.
If I toss it within a couple of feet of him he snags it out of
the air almost without fail. He has a fan who has never even met
him either. One of executives at work happened by my wonderful
corporate supplied work domicile last week and he ended up talking
to me for almost an hour about himself and the breed. In fact,
after talking to me, he went out and started to research and has
convinced his wife to get a puppy as soon as he gets to where
he doesn't have to travel.
